Muses Day Spa Fresno, a mom's honest review- they serve wine!

BEST Thing:   This place gives complimentary (2) glasses of Wine or Mimosa's!   SCORE!!!

My husband and I have frequented spa's together and find it to be a great relaxing time together.  I booked Muses in Fresno to spend the afternoon there together on our last day of summer vacation without the kids.   And.... Epic Fail!!!!  ...  the mens and woman's lounges are all separate, so basically we spent the afternoon apart, alone, and texting one another about the amenities.  This is what we found:

Are you a gentleman looking for a day spa?  Read below.  Ladies, skip this section I have lots to tell you (all good news for you).

Guys:
1) The lounge area for men is SMALL!  No chase, only 1 sofa and 1 chair, not a place you want to share w/other men to lounge and relax in.
2) Only women seem to work there, so they are hard to find to get any help (probably feel uncomfortable to walk in every 5 minutes to check on things like they do the woman's side- in fact they are kind of psycho picking up the woman's side quickly).   My husband did not have coffee in his lounge (he was the ONLY one there) and he waited 10 minutes for  the attendant to walk in to request coffee.  Yes guys, you also you get up to 2 glasses of wine/mimosas/champagne.
3) My husband is used to standard items for grabs on the counter:   shaving cream, disposable razors, disposable combs, etc.  None of that was provided.
4) Here was the game changer:  No sauna for the men!  It is on the woman's side, and we did not realize this when we booked.   Men, you get a TV-  whoopie!    Oh, and the men had granola bars.

Ladies:
1) Amazing lounge!  2 cozy chases, long "L" sofa.
2) Coffee, tea, and of course wine/mimosas/champagne.  Which were not offered at first, I had to ask for the alcohol.  Later I heard one attendant ask a customer if she wanted a drink... maybe because it was 11am they did not ask me?
3) Attendants so on top of cleaning and providing services that if you put down your robe to enter the sauna (in towel), your robe will be gone when you get out.   Then they have to go hunt it down because you left your locker key in the pocket.   They need hooks outside the sauna.
4)  Your robe will be warm when they hand it to you :)
5) Lockers are huge, will fit everything.
6) one large shower and 1 small shower.   Shampoo etc provided.
7) I saw a Pureology product at the sink, hairspray, other items.
8) SAUNA!   A good size, fits 5-6 comfortably.    Just remember to hide your robe!

Funny thing: there is a sign "no cell phone use"-  HA!  I am alone in a warm robe, with wine... I want to use my PHONE!   Play on Facebook, read articles, play the Frozen Free Fall game, etc.  I do not have 2 Minions fighting over my phone to play the Duck Duck Moose games, I get my phone all to myself!   I get it, no talking on the phone... but everyone had their phones out the whole time, and it was glorious  :)

My husband did a body treatment- detox wrap/scrub water table thing.  He liked it.  Mud wrap, hot towels, detox, etc.   I did the basic Glow Scrub on the water table.  Honestly, I felt like my $90 treatment was not worth it.    My husband felt his was worth the money ($120).     Everyone says the facials are amazing, so guess what I will be booking next week!     My good friend got a massage that was phenomenal, so believe me...I will be going back.

We now feel then need to find a day spa where me and my husband can lounge together... I know Chuckchansi's spa has a couples lounge room... with Chocolate Strawberries!

Ladies, get the girls together and book your afternoon at Muses!

Cheers,
Auggie

Disneyland in the Rain with kids- here is your Ninja packing list:

Rainy days are the BEST days to go--- no lines- literally you can walk on to everything!   How to do Disney in the rain: 1) Everyone in 2 layers.   (thermal for kids) 2) Ponchos for the adults!    $5 at Walmart!  Buy an extra for the stroller- cover it well when you have it parked.  3)  Towels- when rides are wet and you are NOT because of your 2 layers and poncho, you don't want to get wet right?!   So put the towel down and sit on it.  4) Mattress waterproof crib pads- to cover legs of kid in stroller!    You see the purple rain boots- those are my 4 year olds.   Mattress pad (the baby ones at Walmart that fit a crib) over his legs.  Poncho on top. 5) Waterproof shoes for ALL!   (double socks) 6) a GOOD Weather app that tells you when RAIN is going to start.   We figured out the heavy rain was coming at 11am-2pm--so we left to take naps during that time.  7) Change of clothing- in case you get too wet. 8) a GREAT attitude of adventure.  You will get wet.. you will.

The NinjaMom's guide to a Princess Alaska cruise with kids!

I took my 7 year old and 3 year old up to Anchorage Alaska and boarded the Coral Princess Ship in Whittier- we spent 7 days going southbound to Vancouver.   Here is all of my tidbits... the good and the bad: Lets start with the good: 1) The bed is the MOST comfortable thing ever!  I wanted to take it home, my happy place was IN BED on the boat!  They even have a flyer that talks about the amazing mattresses!   (on my Christmas list) 2) Nature!  Princess does the nature of Alaska right!  The Naturalist on board (Gloeta) was amazing.  The ship brought on Rangers in Glacier Bay National Park (Where only 2 boats get to enter a day and very FEW companies have access to this National Park) there were many bridge wildlife talks, and lectures on Glaciers and Whales.   Princess does an amazing job on bringing Alaska alive to you!   (No, you do NOT need a balcony.  I had a window, and it was perfect on deck 5.   If you can afford it, great.. but I chose to spend more money on excur

My Do's and Don'ts: Great Wolf Lodge Anaheim, Ca (you can bring wine)

**I get nothing for this post, I paid full price for our room. You know me, I am all about giving advice when traveling...  I hope this is helpful: July 5-7 we were at the 2nd Happiest Place in Anaheim, Great Wolf Lodge (GWL).  Holiday weekend, you would think to steer clear...NOPE!    Do it!!!!!! .. this is a GREAT vacation! Imagine a large hotel room (we upgraded to the bunk bed cabin style for the kids).  They get own section of the room in a themed bunk bed with own TV (it's a BUNK bed, just do it).    Imagine a HUGE water park with lots to do, and not long lines... because only those staying at the hotel can go to the water park.. the longest line we waited in for a tube slide was 10 minutes.    They  have a lagoon area for the tiny tots, a HUGE play slide area for the pre-schoolers, and the rest for big kids (48inches) and bigger.     Money saving tip-  get the cheaper room, and book 60+ days in advance.  I found rates for $175 a night!   That is half what I paid!
